FOR CHC HELICOPTER
A complex global organization operating within strict regulatory requirements, CHC Helicopter found itself without effective training methods for its geographically dispersed team. CHC first approached ED&I to create instructional videos for their corporate training. Through the discovery process, we uncovered the need for a comprehensive solution that could overhaul the entire learning experience — examining the flexibility of the learning technology, the quality of the content, and establishing training methods that align to CHC’s change management and learning goals.
There was a need to increase learning engagement, while providing learners across many different cultures, languages and work situations with a comprehensive and standardized understanding of the curriculum. ED&I developed a solution that involved a transformation of both content and method, moving from a intranet folder system with low-engagement click-through training or expensive and time-consuming face-to-face training to a media rich, collaborative platform accessible globally online.
The objective was to lower the threshold for learner engagement and evoke curiosity for continuous learning. Keeping in mind that the corporate learning environment operates across many different cultures, languages and work situations, we were asked to implement intuitive communication strategies with strong visualizations for complex concepts. Globally dispersed teams create implementation difficulties for even the most forward-thinking training departments. The Learning Hub connects CHC employees, supports individual learning needs and promotes a proactive learning space where the learners can set their own pace. The framework facilitates learning administration and erases geographical distances between people in the organization— an efficient tool for trainers to share and implement training content.
2015 — 2019
To create a comprehensive solution that could overhaul the entire change management training experience — the learning technology, the quality of the content, and establish training methods that align to CHC’s change management and learning goals.
ED&I conceptualized, designed, branded and built the web-based learning application and created the learning media content. Built around features that facilitate communication and collaborative learning, every decision was driven by a core objective to lower the threshold for learning engagement and create a seamless integration with the everyday work context for CHC employees.
BUSINESS PROCESS MAPPING
Mapping out CHC business processes and translating these into transit maps for key processes allows the learner an at-a-glance navigating tool to plan their learning and see the context of their training within the greater whole.
