Connecting the Institute Community
To reflect their new focus towards personalized medicine and to improve their website experience, the Life Sciences Institute at UBC engaged Educe to redesign their website architecture and communication strategy.
The Life Sciences Institute (LSI) is home to more than 85 principal investigators and their research labs from 10 different departments across 5 faculties. Located at the University of British Columbia (UBC), they are the largest such institute in Canada and poised to become a major global contributor for the implementation of personalized medicine. The LSI commissioned us to develop a communication strategy and redesign of their website that would communicate the institute’s leadership and vision towards a personalized medicine focus. In addition to the website design, we worked with LSI administration team to create documents and templates for print and digital communications that align with the new look and feel of their website.
The LSI website is a large institutional site that carries a vast amount of information. A dual navigation provides easy access to different sections of the website, and provides an overview of the many facets of the Life Science’s Institute including cutting-edge research and a wide range of institutional activities. The look and feel is a contemporary visual representation of the LSI, and remains within the University’s identity and web platform standards. The website is built on UBC’s WordPress theme and easily facilitates content maintenance and management from within the LSI team. Our team worked closely with UBC’s Centre for Teaching, Learning and Technology in order to best utilize the University’s web platform.
